You can read about how I got started with weaving, and about the weaving process itself via the About menu; this dips a toe into my background as a weaver, but says nothing about how I actually learned to weave!
In 2022 I quit my job in the Software Engineering industry and joined the JST School of Weaving, a comprehensive online learn-to-weave course run by Canadian Master Weaver, Jane Stafford.
I’ve been weaving full time since then, and in 2024 I completed the Intermediate Certificate of Weaving from the Handweavers and Spinners Guild of NSW. I’m currently studying the Advanced Certificate level, and hoping to attempt the Master level as soon as it becomes available.

Painting in cloth
I’m inspired to get weaving again, and this time, really learn how to do it well. I’ve made a series of samples for colour and technique based on a painting I have on the wall.Check out how it came out!

Weaving with a Temple
My husband laughs at the terms I use in weaving. “You’re sleying the reed?? How is that even a thing?” Well, now I’ve started using a “temple”! 😀 This is a device that forces the width of the woven piece to match up correctly with the “dents” in the reed (haha, there I go again). This stops the…

Birka tablet woven belt
A long, long time ago, in a suburb far, far away … … I wound a very looong warp for tablet weaving a belt. A 292 cm long belt! I used 20 tablets (in reality, playing cards cut into a square shape, with four holes punched at the corners). Each tablet was threaded according to…

Weaving a special gift
Last year my Mum had a special birthday, and I vowed to make something extra special to mark the occasion! At first I was thinking of making a quilt, inspired by the lovely wonky circles done by Mari of TheQuiltingEdge. I still think that is a great idea (hi Mum!) but I knew I wanted…
