About

IMG_1300

I’m Jessica Norris, and I live in the Southern Highlands with my husband Stephen, and three beautiful kids: Isaac, William and Evelyn.

We’ve been working towards living more simply, which is something I stumbled across rather accidentally. We started with backyard chickens, a worm farm and a compost heap. Then we began to preserve some of the food that we grow.

Now we have goats for milk, much larger vegetable gardens and we’re on the way to living sustainably from food that we grow!

Our focus used to be living green and walking lightly upon the Earth. Now we are beginning to embrace other aspects of simple living and discovering that being frugal, re-making and repairing items, and generating less stuff in our lives is incredibly liberating!

I hope you find something here to inspire you, or to amuse you. 🙂

  1. Hi Jessica, I found you via Rhonda’s blog. Lovely to see what you are doing in your simple living journey. I’ve just read you post about blanching, which is very timely as I have lots of fresh corn in the fridge which I would like to freeze. Now I know how.

    1. Hi Jill, thank you for the wonderful honour of being nominated for the Liebster Award! I haven’t been ignoring this, but I’ve been flat out the last couple of days. A post about this will be coming up soon! 🙂

    1. Thank you for dropping in! It’s great to meet you too. 🙂 Your garden has some lovely spots in it. Fruit salad alley is a great idea! I tend to label bits of my garden, too. eg. “The Orchard” (a few fruit trees in a row), “The Wilderness”, (the bit that’s out of control), etc. 😀

    1. Hi Dorothy,

Thanks for dropping by my blog! It’s lovely to have you visit, but I suspect you may be looking for another Jessica who has a zebra crochet hat. My crochet projects have been severely limited up until now!

A zebra crochet hat *does* sound rather cool, though. 🙂
